The tangle of invasive species present on this 2 acre site made it nearly impossible to understand its potential. The pond and a shrub swamp provide an environment rich in small wildlife. The landscape architect worked with Wilkinson Ecological Design to plan for removing the invasive species and replacing them with native varieties that would provide habitat for wildlife threatened by development. Ongoing replacement of invasive species coincides with continued planting of an environment rich in cover, nesting and food.
The property and surrounding woodlands have provided walking paths for the neighborhood for many years. Planting along the northern edge ensures that the paths can continue to be used by the neighbors with discretion. |
