The owners, lovers of the Arts and Crafts style of building, replaced a small one-story cottage with a two story year-round house.  Situated right on the lake and adjacent to an old cranberry bog, the design for the landscape explores native landscape planting formally disposed.

The client requested open areas for recreation, privacy from the road, low maintenance, and a continuation of the Arts and Crafts sensibility in the garden.  (Client involvement in design of the native stone veneer wall was extensive.)  When plantings are mature, the lake will not be visible from the driveway.  Crossing into the entry pergola, the view of the lake is revealed and brought in as part of the garden experience.  The plantings within the garden provide good habitat for the native species that contribute to the sense of place.
