The owner, a single businesswoman who works from her home, asked for a building in the Greek revival style that would accommodate her life- and work- style. The plan of the house groups the 3 main activity areas - living room, dining room and home office - around a wood stove that the owner uses continuously during the winter months to provide almost all of the house heat. The main air return grill is located directly above the stove, allowing for a complete circulation of warm air throughout the house using only the fan cycle from the house air handler.

The house form is based on the Greek temple, and derives more from the work of Karl Friederich Schinkel than from the Greek revival style that is commonly found on Cape Cod, while the details of the construction follow the Cape Cod Greek revival patterns.
