The original house is a classic ¾ Cape Cod cottage constructed in 1812. The owners required an addition respectful of the form of the original building, accommodating a new Master Suite comprised of Bedroom, Bath, Living Area and Study; all with contemporary insulation, heating and air conditioning.
The new space was added as a separate pavilion linked to the original house via a small hallway that abuts the original first floor between the kitchen and dining room. The exterior materials of the new addition match the original house, but are detailed in a contemporary manner. The entire ensemble – existing house, garage and new addition – form a cubist composition of small, gabled forms that is an harmonious addition to its quiet residential neighborhood
