Restoration and Adaptive Re-Use of the former Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
The church was originally constructed in 1911. It was in continuous use until about the turn of the 21st century, when it was deconsecrated and purchased by the Town of Wellfleet. The Town assigned the responsibility for upgrading and reusing the building to a local not-for-profit group dedicated to turning the church into a community center.
Hadley Crow has developed plans for necessary additions to the building, replacing the original church rectory, to allow its use as a community center – elevators, toilets, a kitchen and up-to-date heating and wiring, plus the restoration of the original church structure. The site has been developed as a small park within the historic downtown area. Construction is slated to start in early 2010. |
